Smith Family Cemetery - Glanford Township, Wentworth County, Ontario papers a descendant, Hazel Huffman s papers - a descendant, and Dorothy Hutton spapers who 30, 1795, d. Jun 9, 1884, w/o Joseph Goodall, d/o Edmund Smith Sr http://www.interment.net/data/canada/ontario/wentworth/glan/smith.htm
Extractions: The Smith Family Cemetery no longer has any monuments left in it. The few that were found when the land was cleared out for development are now being stored down the road at the Mount Hamilton Municipal Cemetery on Highway #53. There is a plot of land surrounded by a fence with a sign that reads Smith Family Cemetery, City of Hamilton. That is all that shows that this is the final resting place of many family members of one of the first settling families of Glanford. All those buried here are descendants of Jacob Smith and Elizabeth Lewis. The following transcription has been put together from three documents: Crowell Smith's papers - a descendant, Hazel Huffman's papers - a descendant, and Dorothy Hutton's papers who was a local genealogy and historical researcher working with Varley Smith, also a descendant, on the Smith family. There may be other burials in this cemetery that are not known. These are ones recorded by the family. There were no "official" records kept of the burials here so I have put this together to the best of my ability with the resources available, in the hopes to help the ancestors of the Smith family and remember their part in our history.

Jocelyn Macartney Waller , patronymically named after his ancestor Anne Jocelyn , left Ireland, choosing to settle in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He was the fourth son of Sir Robert Waller, baronet of Ireland and Member of Parliament, and Catherine Moore (see section "Wallers of Ireland"). He married Elizabeth Willis of Newport, County Tipperary, Ireland, and had eight children. While enroute, he was shipwrecked and lost all his possessions but nevertheless succeeded in reaching America. Jocelyn Macartney Waller the fourth son of Sir Robert Waller, 1st Baronet of Newport and our ancestor, was born in Castle Waller but. moved to Quebec, Canada. He was commissioned clerk of the crown for lower Canada in 1817 but was replaced because of his "reformist" views. He then became for a brief time clerk of the Court of Oyer and Terminer. He then retired to a country home, living on income from property inherited from his brother Sir Robert Waller, 2nd. Baronet of Newport . In 1821 he became a justice of the peace for Quebec and commissioner for the summary trial of small causes in Saint-Gilles.
