So what did I find? This article contains the names, year of arrival in Queensland, the Ship and their current age... as at 1909. Also included is a section titled "Some Queenslanders of Bygone Days" . Photographs accompany all the names listed here. The original portraits of pioneers were specially taken for the Jubilee "Queenslander" by Mr T Mathewson. Photographic copies are available from the Photographic Section, John Oxley Library, Queensland Cultural Centre, Stanley Street, South Brisbane, Queensland 4101. They cost (AUD) $12.20 for a 5 x 7 (postcard size). It takes around two to three weeks, depending upon demand.

Child of G IJSBRECHT G ERARD VAN N IJENRODE is: 2. i. ? DORLANT, b. Abt. 1400. According to some researchers, the Dorlandt, or Dorlant name originated when a wealthy Dutchman named Van Nijenrode had an illegitimate child with one of his employees. His approach to hiding this relationship was to provide the mother and child with a cottage on a plot of level land away from his castle. The mother and son were referred to in Dutch as the dorlandts, or the flatlanders, the beginning of the Dorland name. Regrettably, there is little information about the Dorlandt offspring for several generations. The first strongly documented name was JAN DORLANT, b. Abt. 1520, Kortenhoef, Vreeland, Holland.

Extractions: Directories were not available for the years 18421843, 1845, and 18621863.] This list, arranged in alphabetical order by surname of the priest, shows the parish where he served and the years at that parish. With this list, a crossover can be made from a civil marriage record to the church marriage record which often contains more family information. Special Collections has the Catholic Archdiocesan Parish Record microfilms (242 rolls) in film cabinet drawers 2-5 and this table can help determine the parish to search. Consult the Guide to St. Louis Catholic Archdiocesan Parish Records on the finding aid table to determine the desired film roll and item numbers needed. If the church for a priest is listed as "Jesuit" with no specific parish, it is recommended that you search the microfilmed records of parishes in St. Louis commonly served by the Jesuits, e.g. St. Anne, St. Ferdinand, St. Francis Xavier, and St. Joseph, Shrine of (German). * Note to Researchers: In the 18411869 time period, St. Louis County still included the city of St. Louis. It was not until 1876 that the city of St. Louis voted to become an independent city, thus becoming totally separate from St. Louis County.
