Extractions: NORTHERN BAJAAn Emerging Art Mecca By Ann Hazard Theres more, however. Much more. In the last few years there has been a virtual explosion of galleries offering serious art in northern Baja. The artists were always there, they just lacked the money for canvas, paint and other supplies. They also lacked places to display and sell their work, not to mention encouragement and support from gallery owners who believed in them so that they could develop their talent. GIORGIO SANTINI GALLERY OF FINE ART "Painters who don't sell their work stop painting. They can't afford to buy more paint, because it's expensive," Aldo explains. "However, if their work is promoted, they sell, they paint more and they improve. This is a labor of love for me. I want to help them. We have the best artists in Baja here and we offer them a dignified space." is a magical place. The art is intense, alternately primitive and sophisticated with touches of surrealism here and there. There is passion, great beauty and a commitment to enabling the art community in Baja to unfold like the wings of a butterfly.

JAMES2 CARDEN* (ROBERT1) was born Abt. 1790 in N.C., and died Abt. 1830 in Shelby Co, AL. He married MARY NELL "POLLY" LYON* Abt. 1816 in Greene Co, AL, daughter of JOHN LYON and SOPHIA TEAGUE. She was born Abt. 1795 in S.C., and died Abt. 1830 in Shelby Co, AL. Notes for JAMES CARDEN - died when JHR was about 9 years old (1830), so not much is known about their entry into AL or their place of origin. JHR had an older sister - Stacy CARDEN who was b- 1817 (or abt. 13 when her parents died)...accounts vary as to TN or AL. Her tombstone says TN, but 4 straight censes in AR, where she went w/ her husband in 1854, say Stacy was born in AL. It's like this JAMES B. CARDEN, b- 1756 could've been the uncle of my JAMES CARDEN but I don't know who to look at as a possibility for my JAMES' father. Click here to see JAMES B. CARDEN information. The Lindsey's were the first family that I started trying to document. David Lindsey was a Rev. Soldier, and the Montevallo DAR is named after him (Shelby Co, AL), and there has been quite a bit of DAR documentation on him. As I got to trying to figure out how all the people with the same surnames that were marrying into the associated families at that time in that part of AL, I amassed quite a bit of data on families that were only "marginally" related to me.... But I'm like a dog with a bone in that respect!! Those darn Elliott's gave me fits! And the more I found, the more questions I had!
