Zur Sprache kommt auch, dass die Pestwellen des 14. Jahrhunderts den Schrecken des Sterbens in einer die nächsten Generationen prägenden Intensität bewußt gemacht hatten, so daß eine Sterbekunst (Ars moriendi) entwickelt werden mußte.
