Next Index of 1493 PHOTOS and PORTRAITS - Bartholomew Co., IN Author: Mark Amanns Date: 16 Apr 2004 4:13 PM GMT Classification: Query In Reply to: 1903-1904 Bartholomew County Complete Directory by: Mark Amanns Post Reply Mark Unread Report Abuse ... Print Message The third section of the 1903-04 Bartholomew County, Indiana, Complete Directory contains 1488 photos of individuals. Actually, I found a few more so the total is about 1493. There are several women, mostly found in the Educators or Columbus High School Alumni sections. Nearly all photos were sitting portrait-style black-and-white photos about one inch square: Some inconsistencies arise, such as Crockett Ricketts and Washington Polen who are indexed as "Crockett, Ricketts" and "Washington, Polen". Crockett, Ricketts, Washington and Polen all appear as surnames in the directories. How do you prove which name is correct? I will leave that to you, but the photo captions are more likely to be correct. Some names, even using both sources, are still wrong. In the directory the surname Strietelmeier is standard, but neither the photos nor the index match that spelling. Therefore, check the directory listings as well since I did not compare these names to the directories. In addition, the directory listings may contain the individual's middle initial or name, wife's name, job and employer, address and telephone number.
