Extractions: 1890 Brunswick, Georgia - City Directory Transcribed and provided to the Glynn County GenWeb site by Amy Hedrick Please note: There are no 1890 census records in existence for Glynn County. Those records were among those burned and lost to posterity. This City Directory is an excellent other source for determining if a person was in a particular place at a particular time. Thanks to Amy for providing us with this alternative resource. Susan the following notes and commentary provided by Amy. While compiling this data I noticed that it is not entirely in alphabetical order. All of the A's are in the A category, but some last names are not in alphabetical order. So, while searching for you ancestors, please read the entire letter category before giving up hope. Also, Newcastle, Reynolds, Union, Ellis, and Norwich Streets, today, run from the north end of town to the south end, but before 1908, they were called A,B,C,D, and E Streets respectively, north of Gloucester Street. So from Gloucester Street north to S street, they were lettered, and from Gloucester Street south to Dartmouth Street they were Newcastle, Reynolds, Union, Ellis, and Norwich Streets. So if you wanted to see where great grandpa lived on B Street, you would drive down Reynolds Street north of Gloucester Street.
