Jumpingpound Mountain - Canadian Rockies - Canada's Mountains Calmness of mind is one of the beautiful jewels of wisdom. James Allen 18641912,British-born American Essayist, Author of As a Man Thinketh . http://www.canadasmountains.com/jumpingpound_mountain.htm
Extractions: Jumpingpound Mountain. This is a view from near the top of the trail. I think this mountain was named, like the creek which flows nearby for a native chief. Jumpingpound Mountain is a beautiful green peak that is easy to hike up. When you have little time or just need to get out for a view and there's too much snow further west, this peak is a great option. Road access is via Powderface Trail and is seasonal. Call the Alberta Government toll free at 310-0000 (I don't know if this works outside of Alberta) and ask for the Kananaskis Office. Nothing out of the ordinary happened on this particular day. That's good though. I think the day fit the mountain. Gentle and green is the summit, and so when I got there, I had a nice break and drank in the expansive views of forest and valley. Content to just sit back, eat lunch and identify peaks, I had little reason to think, just relax and enjoy the peace.

Extractions: Return to University of Arkansas Libraries Home Page Moses Hughes, (ca 1797-1865) was a farmer, Methodist lay preacher, and sometime Justice of the Peace from Camp Creek, Ten nessee. He married Lucinda Chapman, (1805-?), and the couple moved to Greenville, Wayne County, Missouri, sometime in the early 1820s. Among the children born to Moses and Lucinda were Polly Ann, James, William, George, Rebecca, and Martha, all of whom moved with their parents to Franklin County, Arkansas, around 1845. Polly Ann married Allen McDonald, a Sebastian County farmer, and settled near the town of Charleston, Arkansas. They had at least one child at their home in addition to Allen's son from a previous marriage, Jerry H., and his stepson, Samuel C. Howell. James Hughes maintained his own house and land near his father's at Ozark, Arkansas, until he died in April, 1848, during a trip back to Greenville, Missouri. William R. Hughes also established his own home and became a preacher for the Methodist Episcopal Church in 1856. George Hughes served in the Union Army during the Civil War as a private in the Second Arkansas Volunteer Cavalry. Rebecca Hughes married a man named Kersey and settled near the town of Greenwood, Arkansas.

A Tribute To James Allen James Allen was born in Leicester, England on November 28, 1864. When he was fifteen, the family business only nine years until his death in 1912. " As A Man Thinketh http://www.concentric.net/~conure/allenhm.shtml
Extractions: One day, as I was browsing the local chain bookstore, I came across this small book on the "bargain table". How ironic to think that the most profound and life changing work I would ever read would be had for $4.99. Unfortunately, this writer is still relatively unknown. I have seen quotes from this, his greatest work, "As a Man Thinketh" now and then, but I have seen nothing else. His Life James Allen was born in Leicester, England on November 28, 1864. When he was fifteen, the family business failed and his father left for America to find work. His father was murdered before he could send for the family and subsequently, James left school and worked for several British manufacturers until 1902. His literary career lasted only nine years until his death in 1912. "As A Man Thinketh" was his second book. In fact, it was only upon his wife's insistence that he published the book. His Works I have recently discovered the titles of several other books by James Allen and fortunately for all of us, they are still in print. All of these may be purchased directly from Sun Publishing Company or ordered through your normal book retailer. In addition, there is a "Wisdom of James Allen" collection available from
