He has c.p. and is in a power chair...if you went through school with a disability as a kid, what are some things that you would look back on and change...I don't know if its just me, or does everyone think that if you are in a chair, you have to be mentally disabled too Sorry to say welcome to the real world. No, not everyone will think that but it is amazing how many people are so uninformed about us. You didn't say why your son uses a wheelchair, me, I'm a T-2 complete. Considered to be a quad because of no upper body strength and minimal movement. I have been treated as dumber than dirt a few times. I now do almost everything on the phone or Internet. Most people don't know I'm in a chair unless I bring it up. At least it has worked for me most of the time. It is up to each one of us to prove to others that we aren't that way. Your son will make an impression on all he meets, it is up to him to make it good impression. People are only what they have been taught. Society seems to teach people we are a little lower down the evolution trail.
