Extractions: Cross-genre romances such as time-travels, futuristics and paranormal novels have an ebb and flow of popularity with publishers, but there is always a demand for them from the audience. Unfortunately, because that audience is perceived as being a small proportion of the romance-reading audience, the publishers don't always provide the types of stories we wish to read. It is for that reason that I joined the rabble rousing campaign to show the publishers the growing interest in cross-genre It seems to be having an effect, along with the television interest in what we fondly call "woo-woo." This page will hopefully help writers of woo-woo to find publisher guidelines, resources such as editorial interviews and contests. Do you have any news you would like to share? Email me with your sources and I'll be glad to add it to the page. Publishers: I have good news for other writers of cross-genre romance: Harlequin is releasing a new fantasy line with romantic subplots. You can find out more about

Extractions: Finally, above all, write the kinds of books you most love reading. If you were marooned on a desert island and could only have five books with you - but they all had to be the same KIND of book - what would those books be? The answer to that question can help you discover where your true passion lies, out of all the types of romances and women's fiction novels that are published each month. We have the greatest chances of being successful writing what we are truly passionate about. For those currently in school, I highly recommend that you take at least one class in each of the following subjects: logic, psychology, and business. These skills will definitely help you as a writer and non-students would do well to make an independent study of them, too.

Tufte, Envisioning Information, Graphics Press 1990 OK, so Professor Tufte is writing about the graphical display of information, such as in a chart or graph or a drawing of some sort intended to display (drum roll) information. Isn't that what a novel is? Words are data. If you can do what Professor Tufte has so compellingly suggested, you can write a novel that gets published. If it were easy, getting published would be no big deal. Take a look at Carolyn's Workshop . Here you'll find common errors, explanations of why Carolyn thinks they're bad and examples of how to fix them. Plus, how to format your manuscript Got any Advice?

Romance Writer & Genealogy Resources On The Net The romance Writer. . Genealogy resources on the Net. June 2002. What does this huge online resource have to offer the romance writer? http://www.romanceaustralia.com/articles/writing&genealogy.htm
Extractions: romanceaustralia.com Website of Romance Writers of Australia Inc The Romance Writer Genealogy Resources on the Net June 2002 Genealogy is said to be the second most popular subject on the internet. What does this huge online resource have to offer the romance writer? There's more to genealogy than creating family tree charts. Many genealogists are also family and/or local historians, and because of that they tend to ask the same questions that occupy historical writers, and that the histories of Kings of King Makers often ignore. Questions like: What was life like in....? What about furnishings, clothing, transport, money, marriage laws....? What was the weather like in....? Genealogists have perused and transcribed old wills, manor rolls, military rolls, hearth tax rolls, court documents, ships lists.... And they've put them on the internet. They've found websites that provide useful information about the lives and times of their ancestors, and have created links pages.
