UW-L Campus Physical Dev Plan City of La Crosse and the State of wisconsin. must meet science and mathematics, GeneralEducation requirements the number of faculty and academic staff in the http://www.uwlax.edu/camplan/devplan/academic.htm
Extractions: The Campus Physical Development Plan is designed to best serve the needs of students, faculty, and staff. One of its primary goals is the development and maintenance of a physical environment to adequately and effectively support the University's academic programs. Although the program array and student enrollment in those programs had been quite stable for many years, significant changes have been occurring within the most recent five years. Not surprisingly, these changes are having an impact on classroom/laboratory usage that will necessitate both short-term adjustments and longer-term construction projects. Enrollment as measured by FTE has risen by almost 22% since 1970; however, small decreases in enrollment are expected during the next four (4) years to meet the reduced target enrollment. The quality of those students, as measured by both ACT scores and high school class rank, has risen sharply over the previous decade and is expected to continue. To a large extent, both of these trends have been a consequence of the development and implementation of several high quality academic programs. The increasing numbers of highly qualified students attracted by these programs serves to fuel their continuing growth. A second general area of growth is in academic programs that have a strong computer/technology emphasis. The three programs that have attracted the most student interest are the major in Computer Science, the Management Information Systems (MIS) track in the Business Administration major, and the available courses in Geographic Information Systems (GIS). In order to most efficiently utilize the University's computing resources that support these and other programs, many of the specialized classrooms (including distance education classrooms), general access computer laboratories, and central network facilities were relocated in a single building focused on technology, namely Wing Technology Center.

Campus Dev. Plan-Program Directions-Campus Fac. Planning-UWM to facilitating access to higher education is demonstrated with the UW Colleges andWisconsin Technical College will involve adding faculty/staff positions to http://www.uwm.edu/Dept/CFP/CampusPl/progdir.html
Extractions: Fundamental to the future of Wisconsin and the region is quality, accessible education for its citizens. The State of Wisconsin can be very proud of its many achievements in education. The University of Wisconsin System and the Wisconsin Technical College System are national models for quality, coordination, and access. K-12 students across the state consistently score in the upper percentiles on nationally normed tests. UWM has aided significantly in this effort by bringing the scholarship and professional expertise of a research university to bear on critical education issues. Yet the comprehensive excellence that this state should be demonstrating is far from achieved, in particular concerning the Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS). Addressing existing needs is a collective challenge that can only be undertaken as a complete and total Wisconsin effort. It must be done in full partnership, the kinds of partnerships established in The Milwaukee Idea. We need holistic strategies through which our urban research university, our urban school district, our social service and health agencies, and our local and state government join forces. UWM is a pivotal partner in bringing about this positive change.
