July 18 I left the U.S. for London to visit Marnix , my old friend from my Taiwan days, who is a Scholar of Chinese language, music, and martial arts. Marnix received his Chinese classics degree from Oxford, then went on to do two thesis papers: one on Shr and the Greek concept of Dynamis Later Marnix, his girlfriend and I, managed to attend a concert at the Venezuelan Embassy on Classical Chinese music which included one Chinese girl, Xue Fei Yang, from the Royal Academy of Music, who managed to play classical music from Spain and China on her guitar ( www.xuefeiyang.net A classical Spanish guitarist who attended, mentioned he had not heard such outstanding guitar skills. It was held in a small room accommodating about 20 people, which was sweltering hot without air conditioning That weekend I did a martial arts seminar for a few of Marnixs students and later that week met with Ellis Amdur, a teacher of Japanese Swordsmanship, who was doing a bodyguard course in London with an Aikido teacher. He was easy to spot in the crowd around the British Museum, as he stood at 6 feet 8 inches and yet he is quick and perceptive.

Since 1985, Hollycombe has been operated by a team of volunteers. Vintage attractions (Fairground): Steam Gallopers: Tidman-built 3-abreast set dating from 1912, which travelled until the 1960s. It became part of the Hollycombe collection in 1986. Features revolving mirrored pillars, a Gavioli organ, 24 horses, six cockerels and two chariots. The ride is still steam operated.
