All developed campgrounds have quiet hours from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Generator use is restricted to posted hours. Five developed picnic grounds with tables, stoves and toilet facilities are located within the Calaveras Ranger District: Crescent Grove (on Hwy. 4 near Hathaway Pines), Cottage Springs, Spicer Reservoir (near the boat launch), Marmot and Chickaree (both on the shores of Lake Alpine). Calaveras Big Trees State Park also has group and individual picnic sites on the North Grove and individual sites at Beaver Creek and Stanislaus River areas. Extractions: Home Page Making Waves Adaptive Water Ski Clinic was held on August 14, 1999 at Oak Hollow Lake in High Point, NC. The ski clinic was sponsored by the Recreation Therapy Department of WFUBMC, Northwest AHEC Allied Health Education, and Anchors Away, an outreach program of the Medical University of South Carolina. Therapists from around the area recieved instruction on adaptive water skiing and how to work with various populations with disabilities learning how to ski or having the opportunity to ski again. An accessible boat was also provided throuh a volunteer with a disability to offer boat rides and demonstrate the accessibility of such a boat to participants. Information on adaptive equipment for fishing was available, along with a local vendor to answer questions about kayaking. The clinic was a huge success providing a recreational opportunity to individuals who no longer thought they could participate in such an activity, and through the support of the marketing department at WFUBMC we were able to involve the media in an attempt to educate the community about the possibilities of participation of persons with disabilities. The Recreation Therapy Department hopes to have two clinics during the sumer of 1999.
