Win If You Can...Always Cheat..? - USA Water Polo Bulletin Board coaches meeting at the Hyatt in San Fran this year we had a discussion of how us coaches thought the sport of water polo is doing. A general consensus of that http://www.usawaterpolo.com/ubb/Forum7/HTML/000100.html
Extractions: Registered: Jan 2004 posted 01-24-2004 02:33 AM I'm not sure how many of you have heard a saying I've heard often, "Win if you can, Lose if you must, Always cheat" But after reading a few posts I was curious what you guys think cheating does to or for the sport? For instance, There is a post about a defender counting down as if the clock is going to expire, so as to entice the offence to shoot the ball, when in fact there is plenty of time, and the resulting feeling about this was that it is un-sportsman-like. At the annual coaches meeting at the Hyatt in San Fran this year we had a discussion of how us coaches thought the sport of water polo is doing. A general consensus of that discussion being that bad refereeing was a result of coaches teaching improper technique and cheating to players. While other UC and US coaches at the meeting taught us some interesting "Gimmicks" at this meeting. Some of which that go against the rules. So, how should coaches treat "cheating" or "Gimmicks"? Should they be emphasized if it helps to win, and what does this do to our sport?

Extractions: @import "../sturec.css"; Classes Return to: Student Rec home Sport Clubs The Vanderbilt Water Polo Club is a coed club sport organization. The club water polo program is open to any Vanderbilt student or staff member, regardless of age, sex, race, or religious affiliation. We accept players of any ability level, including beginners. If we have enough participants of each sex, we will run both a menís and a womenís team; otherwise we play as a coed team. We are not a swim club and do not teach competitive swimming. The ability to swim well is an important part of the sport so you must be a strong swimmer to participate. We do a good amount of swim conditioning and will help you get into shape to play water polo. We compete against other colleges and universities such as UT, The University of Florida, Florida State University, and Ohio State University, to name a few. We travel once or twice each semester, and we try to have several home games and a home tournament each year. The highlight of our spring season is usually our trip to the Tulane University Mardi Gras tournament in New Orleans in early February.
