Boarding School need to be lonely, as all of the students of the boarding school were being sent to a Fair, at which the School would be competing with other schools in races http://www.jbuff.com/droozy/boarding_school.htm
Extractions: Droozy was sent to boarding school at age nine. This was a Jewish Day School since Jewish children were not permitted to attend the local public schools any more in Germany. You nasty brat, even here you had to follow me and spoil my fun. The grating shrill voice of sister was like music to Droozys lonely heart, and she exhaustedly fell asleep. The next day Fanny guided Droozy to the school principal to tell him that Droozy wanted to be sent home at once because of her intense loneliness. The principal comforted her and advised that there was no need to be lonely, as all of the students of the boarding school were being sent to a Fair, at which the School would be competing with other schools in races and games. This sounded very exciting and temporarily Droozy rejoiced. At least she would have the opportunity to ride with Fanny on the train to Stuttgart where the competition was to take place. When the children arrived at their destination, they were separated and placed with various families who were to be hosts for the three day Fair period. Although Droozy repeatedly telephoned sister Fanny, she eventually got used to her temporary quarters, since Susie, the hostess child, shared a room with her and talked with her for hours. At the Fair Droozy ran many races, hopped in a sack with her feet tied and ate nineteen bananas within a few minutes, becoming the banana eating champion of the day. The three days passed quickly and it was time to return to boarding school. Droozy waved farewell to her newly found friend and ascended the train which was headed for Niederstetten. The train was to pass through various small towns along the way, one of them being Droozys. When it slowed down in Crailsheim, Droozy hurriedly jumped off, leaving her suitcase behind. She ran all the way to her parents home. What a happy sight it was to see her parents and her brother again, never to return to the boarding school again!

Extractions: Thursday, March 25, 2004; Page A17 JAKARTA, Indonesia The sun was bright, the sky a flawless blue a perfect day for a graduation. In a mountain clearing in the southern Philippines four years ago, 17 young Indonesians snapped to attention in their camouflage fatigues, two instructors recalled. They marched in formation. They assembled a low-explosive bomb and detonated it. They crawled on the ground with AK-47s. Allahu Akbar !" the audience cheered: "God is greatest." The men were the first graduates of the military academy established by Jemaah Islamiah, a Southeast Asian militant network allied with al Qaeda. That day in April 2000, as described by two men who were there, was a high point in the life of the organization. During the next two years, hard-liners in Jemaah Islamiah gained influence. The group's biggest attacks were the October 2002 bombings of two Bali nightclubs and the August 2003 bombing of the JW Marriott Hotel in Jakarta, which together killed 214 people. At least one of the 17 graduates was arrested last year for hiding a Bali bomber, said Muhaimin, 42, one of the instructors in the Philippines and now an imam at a Jakarta mosque. Like many Indonesians, he uses only one name.

Measles Outbreak In A Boarding School --- Pennsylvania, 2003 the 663 students in the boarding school, eight (1.2 in two generations of transmission in the school. US Government Printing Office (GPO), washington, DC 20402 http://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/preview/mmwrhtml/mm5314a3.htm
Extractions: Measles has not been endemic in the United States since 1997, although limited outbreaks continue to be caused by imported* cases ( ). In 2003, CDC assisted in investigating the largest school outbreak of measles in the United States since 1998 ( ). The outbreak consisted of 11 laboratory-confirmed cases: nine cases in a boarding school in eastern Pennsylvania and two epidemiologically linked cases in New York City (NYC). This report summarizes the results of the outbreak investigation, which indicated that measles continues to be imported into the United States and that high coverage with 2 doses of measles-containing vaccine (MCV) among students was effective in limiting the size of the outbreak. Health-care providers should maintain a high index of suspicion for measles, especially in those who have traveled abroad recently, and recommendations for 2 doses of MCV in all school-aged children should be followed. In April 2003, the Pennsylvania Department of Health reported to CDC two cases of measles in unvaccinated twins aged 13 years in a boarding school with 663 students. Active surveillance for measles was conducted in the school, hospitals, and doctors' offices through May 2003. Patients were interviewed, acute- and convalescent-phase sera were collected for measles IgM enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay testing, and throat swabs and urine samples were collected for viral genotyping. Efforts to control the outbreak included vaccinating or excluding from campus and isolating all students and staff members with no evidence of immunity to measles
