The Institute of Law, Psychiatry and Public Policy offers opportunities for receiving continuing education (CE) credits to program participants. In all cases, participants should become aware of their own individual CE requirements, since different agencies, departments and professional boards have different requirements for obtaining and reporting CE credits. The Virginia Department of Health Professions has information on regulations and requirements for continuing education of those under the supervision of the health professional boards. Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits in Category 1 of the American Medical Association are approved for most programs through the Office of Continuing Medical Education of the University of Virginia School of Medicine , and are available for most programs. The cost per CME credit hour for physicians is $12 for programs approved for Category 1. For non-physicians a certificate of attendance is available. Continuing Education Units (CEU) are available for non-physicians through the same Office of Continuing Medical Education at a cost of $10 for each contact hour.

Senate Bill 625 required all local school boards to review and act on applications for public charter schools.
