University of Virginia Medical School The University of Virginia Medical School offers a course on Complementary Therapies for Health through the Humanities in Medicine Program. This course prepares students to critically examine and understand complementary and alternative medicine through: 1) an exposure to the theoretical and philosophical foundations of complementary and alternative therapies, 2) a review of current research, and 3) an understanding of clinical applications and interventions for healthcare and prevention.
