Extractions: The USVI is a great place to establish a business! In addition to a full range of businesses to serve and supply the local population, opportunities also exist to service the tourist trade in such areas as retail stores and gift shops, hotels, restaurants, and attractions such as dive operations and the like. Better yet, if you establish a qualifying business and hire local employees, your business can be eligible for generous government tax incentives which will eliminate almost all income taxes ,and local taxes for ten years or more. The USVI Industrial Development Program provides exemptions from nearly all local taxes and a 90% income tax exemption. In order to qualify, a business must invest $50,000 or more in a USVI business and employ ten persons. Initial tax benefits are granted by the USVI Industrial Development Commission for either ten or fifteen years and may be renewed for five year periods. The Industrial Development Program is typically used by hotels, light manufacturing enterprises, and service businesses. Benefits are usually not granted for businesses which primarily serve the local market. USVI resident shareholders of companies which have benefits are also entitled to 90% income tax exemptions.

There is no extra charge to you, this is simply an extension of your Island News connection. VIPA will use Island News to communicate with you to appraise you of those things that you will need to know on an ongoing basis if you own property. VIPA has special arrangements with island groups which will prove hugely beneficial to you as a property owner. As a member of VIPA you will be issued an annual membership ID card. This ID card will provide you with several special benefits that your Island News ID card do not cover. 1. As a property owner, you will undoubtedly find yourself in the situation that you will want to ship a vehicle, household goods, or building materials to the USVI from the mainland. VIPA has a special relationship with Tropical Shipping Lines under which you will be granted very significant discounts on your shipping rates to St Thomas, St John or St Croix from the mainland. VIPA will provide you with specific instructions on how you will obtain quotes and book your shipments. 2. Emergency medical care in the USVI is something to avoid if at all possible, since the hospitals are run by the territorial government and are correspondingly endowed with the same model of inefficiency as the other arms of the government. The alternative of emergency medical evacuation back to the mainland has been a cost that is prohibitive to mostof us. But VIPA has made a special arrangement with Medical Air Services Association (MASA) o provide VIPA members with emergency air evacuation flights back to your home town medical care facility at costs that are easily affordable for you and your family.

U.S. Virgin Islands: About The Island Of St. Thomas is the oldest standing structure in the virgin islands. Now a us national landmaark, this brick fortress Thomas first government House, a church and community http://www.virginisles.com/stthomas.html
Extractions: St. Thomas is Much Much More than Shopping History and Culture Abound For the more than one million cruise ship passengers and overnight guests who visit St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands each year, the island's prominence as one of the Caribbean's most renowned shopping meccas is one of its most alluring attractions. With duty-free shopping exemptions unrivaled by any other Caribbean destination, and fine dining and accommodations at an exceptional value, St. Thomas is indeed a treasure discovery for travelers. Stretched along the waterfront, restored 17th- and 18th-century warehouses - once used to hold molasses, rum, spices and other trade goods awaiting export - now house a variety of unique shops containing modern-day treasures. Yet after navigating through the narrow byways of downtown Charlotte Aalie's historic shopping district, visitors to St. Thomas still have much of the island's historical significance to explore. Charlotte Amalie harbor is the perfect place for travelers to begin their journey through St. Thomas' history. Harborside since 1672, Fort Christian is the oldest standing structure in the Virgin Islands. Now a U.S. national landmaark, this brick fortress was built to protect the town's harbor from raiding European armadas which sailed the Caribbean centuries ago. Having once served as St. Thomas' first Government House, a church and community government center, Fort Christian today is the home to the Virgin Islands Museum, where early island memorabilia and old maps trace the islands' history.

Although the U.S. Virgin Islands is an United States Territory and all the citizens are also United States citizens, they cannot vote in Presidential elections. Also there is no voting representative in the U.S. Congress to represent the Territory. Cisterns: We mostly collect our water in cisterns for home use. Some housing located in the town areas are serviced by WAPA who provides desalinated water from their distribution plant. This is usually rationed during times of drought. If you run out of water, you will have to call a water truck to deliver water to your home. This can cost from $190 to $365 dependent upon how much water you order. All homes using cisterns must also have a pump to pump the water into the house. Learning how to prime a pump is something that may come in handy. Climate: Hurricane season makes up for all the great weather we have here. Generally the better the view the more threat a hurricane will be to your residence. Check out the
