Industry has said the proposed rules will cost jobs and has criticized a concentration by environmentalists on what it says are minute traces of chemicals in the body. During this period, structures are developed and vital connections are established. Indeed, development of the nervous system continues all through childhood, as is evidenced by the fact that children continue to acquire new skills progressively as they grow and develop-crawling, walking, talking, reading, and writing. The nervous system is not well able to repair any structural damage that is caused by environmental toxins. Thus, if cells in the developing brain are destroyed by chemicals such as lead, mercury, or solvents, or if vital connections between nerve cells fail to form, there is high risk that the resulting neurobehavioral dysfunction will be permanent and irreversible. The consequences can be loss of intelligence and alteration of normal behavior.

Our body reacts to them as if they were hormones produced in us or intentionally taken. They are hormonally active substances which means they can cross placental barriers and may have profound effects on the offspring of animals which ingest them. The types of chemicals that mimic hormones are as diverse as pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers, plastics, solvents, and more. Richard M. Sharpe, research physiologist with the Medical Research Council in Edinburgh, hypothesized that estrogens in the environment can disrupt the body's hormonal balance, possibly explaining phenomena such as earlier puberty, lowered sperm counts, and other reproductive anomalies exhibited by late 20th century females and males of many species. "Of all the hormones we know, the estrogens are the most potent. You can get biological effects from estrogen at levels so low you cannot measure them by any analytical method," Sharpe has found through his research. Other environmentalists and scientists postulate effects ranging from behavioral changes to motor, intellectual, and immune system impairment.

The reason: insidious poisoning by toxic chemicals. How are the effects of these toxins manifested in the body and mind? It is estimated that 60 to 80 percent of all cancers are a direct result of chemicals in our air, water and food. Further, neuroscientists are now studying the role of environmental toxins in the development of neurological disorders such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases, and in mental/behavioral disorders such as depression, anxiety, schizophrenia and attention deficit disorder. T oxins that directly affect the nervous system are called neurotoxins. Since the nervous system is intricately connected to the immune system, neurotoxins also affect our immune functions. Thus, our very ability to think and feel normally can be drastically affected by exposure to toxins. It does not take a giant leap of logic to realize that we could soon be in such a state of toxic poisoning that we would be unable to "problem-solve" our way out. How serious is the problem? Serious.

Extractions: For the Control of Wood Destroying Insects and Organisms Senate Bill 365 now requires termite treatment on one and two family residences in municipalities, as outlined in the International Building Code As a result of my thirty-plus years in pest control, we have devised the following pest preventative procedures. The best time to fight insect infestation is to treat the wood as the home or building is being built. When the building is dried in, ESP will power spray the complete interior with TimBor, a borate (Disodium Octoborate Tetrahydrate) solution. This product will penetrate into the wood and leave a long lasting (eons) residual to provide protection against wood destroying insect infestation and fungi. We now are adding a surfactant that will enable the borate to penetrate further into wood. This surfactant is used by lumber mills to kill sapstain. All base plates should be clean of debris for this treatment(s). DOT is a boron compound that penetrates into the wood making it resistant to wood eating insects. Boron is also an essential element needed for out bodies. Since I have been spraying boron, I have no arthritis. This covers the wood treatment for termite warranty purposes. This treatment is recognized by SBCCI and FHA/VA. We have the paperwork required by FHA/HUD and will provide it when necessary.

Now, researchers from the University Pathology Consortium are attributing some forms of depression to exposure to toxins present in our food and environment. One particular part of the study showed that 47 percent of the participating patients that had dental amalgam fillings reported suffering from major depression compared to the 14 percent in the dental control group. These toxins are also found in makeup, pesticides, mold, and harsh chemical cleaners, which have become more and more present in our country over the last 50 years.
