As part of the Federal Way Public School system, IA has been serving students since 1996. This past school year 932 students have taken from one to five classes with IA. IA also offers a summer school program. Juneau, Alaska The Juneau Cyber School is designed to recruit home schooling students who would otherwise be counted by statewide home schooling programs, diverting revenue away from the district. This model seeks to enhance the quality of on-line and conventional correspondence schooling by also offering the district's extra-curricular activities and access to some public school classes to cyber students. In this model the parent is considered the teacher and choices in curriculum range from conventional parent-based home-schooling materials to contracted on-line classes with off-site teacher support. Curriculum plans and home assessments are evaluated by a certified teacher. Formal assessment is accomplished via state and federally mandated testing.

Funding increased to $1,000,000 in 1993. SUNLINK is an initiative of the Florida Department of Education, School Library Media Services Office.
