Extractions: Author and Professional Storyteller Christine Petrell Kallevig is an author and professional storyteller who writes middle-grade fiction and specializes in Storigami: Storytelling + Origami = Storigami. And even though she travels the country folding paper and telling stories, origami did not enter her life until she had a husband, a dog, two sons, a house, and a dirty red mini-van full of baseball junk. It hit like a lightning bolt, though, and completely changed her life. Christine was born in North Dakota, raised in Minnesota, educated at the University of Kansas and the University of Georgia, and she also lived in Florida and Indiana before finally settling in Cleveland, Ohio. She worked professionally as a Registered Music Therapist, a teacher for both learning disabled and intellectually gifted students, and was the publisher of a magazine for parents of young children. And now, a dozen years after the publication of her first Storigami book, Christine still has the same husband, a different dog, the same two sons, a different house, and a different dirty red mini-van that's still full of baseball junk. She'd go to the car wash, but she'd rather visit your school or write a new book instead. Published Books by Christine Petrell Kallevig, Paperback, 128 pages, (November 2003) Storytime Ink Intl.

Extractions: Scotts Creek Vent Sylvia Brose with first Kindergarten group With the ideal of ' Education for Life ', Sydney's Glenaeon Rudolf Steiner School, the first Steiner Waldorf school in Australia, was founded in 1957 with a Kindergarten of three pupils. Today the school has grown to around 500 students occupying campuses at Middle Cove and Castlecrag. Beginnings: in search of knowledge Realising the vision Enhanced learning environment The College of Teachers ... Teaching guidelines for the future Receive the children in reverence RUDOLF STEINER A vision for a Steiner Waldorf school in Australia emerged first in the 1930s with Anthroposophists Eric and May Nicholls, Lute Drummond, Alice Crowther and Walter and Marion Burley Griffin: pioneers united on 'a path of knowledge leading from the spiritual in man to the spiritual in the universe' who had in common an 'awareness of one's humanity' - both Steiner's own definitions of the philosophy he called 'Anthroposophy'. These pioneers were prominent in the lively bohemian community that existed in Sydney's Castlecrag in the 1930s: Lute Drummond, teacher of the arts and general secretary of the Anthroposophical Society; Alice Crowther, speech and drama teacher, whose studio introduced to Australia, Steiner's approach to speech, dramatic art and eurythmy; architects Marion and Walter Burley Griffin; and architect and partner of Burley Griffin, Eric Nicholls and his wife May. Activities of a cultural, social nature, including plays, seasonal festivals and lectures, using the suburb's Haven amphitheatre, created a virtual 'University of the Bush', its members respected as Sydney's own 'Bloomsbury' group. A valued member of this group was a young Sylvia Brose.
