Extractions: THE CANTERBURY MUSEUM THE RHODES STAMP COLLECTION The Rhodes Stamp Collection at the Canterbury Museum is named after the famous stamp collector and Postmaster General Sir R. Heaton Rhodes. Sir Heaton was a very keen collector and formed an extensive collection of mainly early New Zealand stamps including perhaps the finest ever collection of Chalon or Full Face Queen stamps of New Zealand. The collection has over 1,400 imperforate and 1,400 perforate chalons including several unique items. The Rhodes collection also includes fine lots of Australia (Mostly States) and Pacific Islands. The collection at one time had its own room at the Museum called The Rhodes Room. This room was partially paid for by a grant from Christchurch Stamp Collectors being the proceeds of the 1950 Canpex National Stamp Exhibition. The collection itself is once again accessable for serious philatelic study by asking at the archives room during week days. The collection has been archive photocopied. This set of photocopies is readily available to the public and serious researchers may request to view particular pages from the actual collection depending of the availability of archive staff to assist. The Canterbury Museum is situated on Rolleston Avenue at the West End of Worcester Boulevard. Admission is free and museum hours are normally 9am to 5pm daily including weekends

(or pointers to other online collections) Drop me a note My collection is 99% U.S. Mint sheets, mostly from the 70's and 80's. The 2 sub-directories here are by_name and by_scott. The by_name are "mostly" 8.3 character names I gave the scans, limited by the DOS box the scanner used to be hooked to. The by_scott directory should be the Scott Catalog number of the sheet/block/ stamp that is in the mint sheet.. The by_scott directory may not have links to the later issues that I haven't gotten time to lookup the new Scott numbers to.. The earlier scans are 300dpi, 8bit color GIF scans, others are 400dpi, 24bit color scans reduced into JPEG compressed form. Current scans are 400dpi, 8bit color GIF scans. All were done on the HP ScanJet-IIc If you have mint U.S. Sheets that I don't, and are willing to sell them at a resonable price, I'd also like to hear from you..
