Extractions: The Motorcycle Riders Foundation joins its South Dakota partner, ABATE of South Dakota, in expressing grave concern over the recent accident involving U.S. Representative William Janklow that took the life of motorcyclist Randolph Scott, as well as the findings of the accident report the South Dakota State Highway Patrol has delivered to Moody County State's Attorney Bill Ellingson. According to KELO-TV, Mr. Ellingson stated Tuesday, August 19, that "preliminary reports that I have received indicate that the vehicle being driven by [U.S.] Representative Janklow did not stop at the stop sign at MC#13 but had proceeded through the stop sign traveling at a speed yet to be determined... Congressman Janklow's vehicle traveled about 300 feet after impact." On August 21, the South Dakota Highway Patrol reported that the car was being driven 15 to 20 miles in excess of the posted 55 mph speed limit. The collision on Route 13 in Moody County, South Dakota, claimed the life of Randolph Scott, a motorcyclist from Hardwick, Minnesota. The state patrol reported that Scott was traveling between 55 and 60 mph.
Extractions: The Motorcycle Riders Foundation (MRF) has received the official response from ABATE of South Dakota regarding the Janklow sentence handed down late last week. The MRF applauds and continues to support ABATE of South Dakota for their knowledge of the legal process in South Dakota, their diligence in following this case, and their common sense approach in dealing with this tragedy. "While we feel that the sentence awarded to Bill Janklow should have included more than 100 days of jail time, the officers and Board of Directors of ABATE of South Dakota find the sentence generally consistent with the laws and resulting penalties of the justice system of the State of South Dakota. "In as much as in many states similar accidents result in no penalty at all or at the most a small fine, and in as much as the penalty awarded to Bill Janklow was stiffer than in many similar cases in South Dakota, we believe that the South Dakota justice system has clearly demonstrated that a person's political, social or economic stature has little bearing on the final outcome of such a case and that the final outcome was based on the circumstances and evidence surrounding this case.

Extractions: Why should I wear a condom? Source: Cover It! by Justin Case www.teenwire.com Although "Why should I wear a condom?" is a very simple question, it's a deep one that needs to be addressed. But the answer may not be as plain as day. I made a list of reasons that just might contain a few that didn't cross your mind. First, there's the obvious, like protection from sexually transmitted infections. No infection means no itching, burning, rash, or worse from parasites, bacteria, or viruses. And don't forget infections won't just go away. Some infections, like herpes and HIV, may stay with you for life. Think about how uncomfortable you would feel telling a new partner up front that you are infected with something you got previously by not wearing a condom.
