At the AGM, Tan Jong Lek was elected to succeed Prof Lai Kim Fatt as the President of the JUGAS Executive Committee. At the same time, 8 other members were also elected into the Exco for 1-2 yr terms. The new 2004/2005 Exco conducted its first regular meeting on 5th May at JAS, where the various office-bearers and team structures were formed. For more information regarding the new Exco structure, please refer to the Committee page Our president, Prof Lai Kim Fatt, was presented the "Person of the Year 2004" IT Leader Award by the Singapore Computer Society (SCS) for his outstanding professional performance and contributions to IT in Mindef, DSTA and Singapore. Extractions: From 14 to 19 June 2004, the Singapore International Documentary Film Festival will bring to local audiences a series of documentary feature and short films from Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea, Thailand, Poland and other countries. The festival screenings will be held at The Substation and Singapore History Museum, and tickets are currently on sale at Substations Box Office. This event is organised as part of Substations Moving Images programme. The June screening of the Singapore Short Cuts will feature a series of five short films that lets audiences revisit Singapores history and society through the eyes of the filmmakers. Titled Reflections of Singapore, the screening will be held on Sat 19 June 2004, 4.00pm to 5.30pm at the Singapore History Museum (SHM). Free tickets, given on a first-come-first-served basis, can now be collected from the SHM. To support and promote Singapore film scriptwriters to develop their story ideas into full-length feature film scripts, the SFC introduced the Script Development Grant in 2003. This Grant will consider applications twice a year, and the upcoming deadline is 31 July 2004. Interested applicants can visit the "Funding Programmes" section for details.
