You need an Internet connection, access to a newsserver (usually provided by your ISP), and some newsreader software. For a list of other popular ones including XNews and Gravity see newsreaders.com . Agent and Free agent support only a single newsserver. Xnews has no spell checker and can't send email since it does not support authentication. The sorts don't work and it cannot search message bodies. The author refuses to accept email. I am currently using Gravity. It is free, but unsupported. It does not have a proper undo in the editor, and it does not mesh with PGP signing properly. It also seems to lose messages and does not collect threads properly. groups.google.com The main Java newsgroups ones are: Java-related Newsgroups Newsgroup Purpose alt.html HTML and browser problems comp.infosystems.www.authoring.stylesheets

Extractions: COURSE OVERVIEW: This course is an introduction to data structures, their implementation and their efficiency. We will cover a variety of data structures including: stacks, lists, dictionaries, trees, binary search trees, and queues. For each we will learn: what abstraction the data structure provides to its user, alternatives for implementing the data structure, methods for analyzing the efficiency of different implementations, and how to evaluate the suitability of a particular implementation for a given problem. This material will be learned through a combination of reading assignments, analysis assignments and program writing. One objective of the course is to further develop your programming skill. There will be 6 - 7 programming assignments that implement data structures and use them to solve practical problems. These programs will give you further practice in the use of loop invariants, pre / post conditions, and abstract data types. Their grading will emphasize program documentation, testing, and programming style. TOPICS TO BE COVERED: The primary emphasis of the course will be data structures with an introduction to the algorithms commonly used on them. A secondary goal will be to teach you object-oriented programming using C++. The topics covered will all be taken from the primary textbook (GTM). The precise coverage will be determined as the course progresses.

Matthew wrote that he likes to read messages in the German-language sections of Usenet to help improve his reading comprehension. "I often read articles from de.talk.jokes and de.rec.tv.simpsons . Both are good sources for the German language as it is being used by native speakers." (Note: These and the following news: links will only work if your browser preferences have been configured for newsgroups.) You may have noticed the telltale de prefix in the two newsgroups Matthew mentioned. That indicates "Germany" and a discussion group mostly in German. Other prefix or suffix hints that tell you a newsgroup/list is probably in German: at (Austria)

Overview In this class, we'll be engaging with the world of ideas not simply facts in ways that will provide you with a taste of what's to come in classes you take throughout college. For most of you, this will be exciting (and challenging!) new territory. The emphasis of this class is "rhetorical reading" reading in ways that allow you to understand an author's arguments, assumptions, beliefs, values and use of evidence as well as the context within which he/she produced a given piece of writing. We'll explore texts as contributions to ongoing conversations, rather than as items that appear in isolation.
