Here are a few ideas that may help your outdoor pet survive the winter season: Provide shelter for both cats and dogs. Provide proper food and water for the pet: A higher calorie, brand-name/premium food is recommended, as pets burn many more calories trying to stay warm; Fresh water must be available to prevent dehydration. Eating snow will lower the pet’s body temperature. Lukewarm water should be provided at least twice a day, and checked to make sure it has not frozen over.
