Funds generated by NARBA subscriptions help in supporting the society's extensive refuge system on the Upper Texas Coast. NARBA service includes three options: "We Call You" option provides personalized service. You pick one or more of the birds from our NARBA "Hotline" bird list that you would like the "scoop" on immediately. You pay a fixed amount per bird species selected based on the probability that it will be reported during the year that your subscription is in effect. When one of your selected bird species is reported, one of our NARBA committee volunteers calls you directly to give you the details. "North American First Record" category is also available on the "We Call You" service. This exciting category includes birds that have never before been reported in North America. The population of cormorants black, long-beaked fishing specialists which can stay underwater for up to 30 seconds has ballooned to over 6,000 in the Alpine state. And they are feeding on rare fish species such as grayling and pearl fish, which are unique to the region, German officials said.

Extractions: "Rare Birds" isn't a great film overall but it's a film that knows exactly what it's mission or objective is and doesn't over step it's boundaries. It's a fun distraction from the real world for just over an hour and a half. The performances are strong, the jokes funny and the locations interesting. Sure the narrative goes a bit haywire towards the end but I'm willing to look past it as it's not a huge problem. "Rare Birds" is a small quaint Canadian film and a good one at that. EXTRAS: There's no arguing that "Rare Birds" is a rather small film in the overall scheme of things and as such I had no idea what to expect in terms of special features on the DVD. In fact I wouldn't have been surprised if the disc was completely barebones or only included the trailer. Once again Lions Gate surprised me and while the disc isn't what you'd call a special edition they atleast made the effort to include what limited bonus materials they could put together. In this case it's a commentary track and a production art gallery.
