Denton is mentioned in several 14th century documents, referred to as Denton-subter-Danerhaugh, and by the 1660s it was a large village of 500 inhabitants. The population in 1801 was 2,500, in 1841 was 7,000, and by 1950 over 25,000. The large increase during the 19th century was due to Denton becoming a suburb of Manchester. One of the most remarkable buildings existing in Denton today is St. Lawrence's known as Denton Old Church, or 'Old Peg', because of the wooden pegs used in its construction. It was built in 1530 and, despite alterations and renovations, is still not greatly changed today. In 1884 the local governments of the townships of Denton and Haughton were amalgamated under one authority - the Denton and Haughton Local Board - and in 1894 the Committee of the Lancashire County Council decided that Denton and Haughton were to be united and known as the Denton Urban District Council. The free library was planned to celebrate Victoria's Jubilee in 1887 and was opened on April 28, 1888. The cemetery opened in 1894, also allowing the public access to woodland surrounding it, and in 1913 Denton Park opened.

Extractions: Chronology Early settlement would have occurred in an environment very different to today's landscape. It is likely that what dunes did exist formed barriers with lagoons behind them. The coast throughout Mesolithic, Neolithic, bronze age and iron age times was constantly changing with probably at least four transgressions and retreats of the coast. This article looks at more recent history and on the landscape that we see today. How did it form, how has it changed and how have we changed it. There have probably been two major periods of dune building on the Sefton Coast. In the Netherlands old dunes and new dunes have been identified. The older dunes were formed prior to Roman times and subsequently were much eroded. On the Sefton Coast the present dune system probably began to form about 800-900AD in a period of rising sea-levels. High, actively mobile dune systems are often a reflection of erosion pushing the sand into high mounds. Perhaps the first settlers we should think about seriously are the Scandinavians from 850AD onwards. Formby, Ainsdale, Birkdale and Ravenmeols are all of Scandinavian origin. There is evidence to suggest that the two cultures, Anglo Saxon and Scandinavian, mingled. By Domesday times both cultures coexisted.

We addressed this question by looking at how humans have influenced the Palouse Prairie of west-central Idaho. Our objectives were to (1) develop a history of European-American settlement and biological diversity in the Palouse bioregion, (2) use this history to understand how human activities have altered land cover and ecological integrity of the bioregion, and (3) assess the utility of information of differing scales and time periods. We believe that understanding the biophysical changes that have occurred in this region will provide a useful starting point for establishing research hypotheses, conservation goals, and ecological restoration efforts.

PMM serotype (B) was isolated in 85.9%, 65.6% and 30.4%, 8.1% respectively, while PMS serotype (A) was isolated from clinical cases only, 3.1% and 1.6% respectively. PMM serotype (A) was also isolated from nasal swabs of contact apparently healthy camels (3%). Serum biochemical analysis showed significant decrease in total protein, albumin as well as A/G ratio, while the globulin fraction was increased. The enzyme activity of ALT, AST, alkaline phosphatasedase as well as the values of creatinine, urea and uric acid were significantly increased. Minerals profiles were also altered, calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, sodium, chloride were significantly decrease, whereas potassium increased. It was concluded that serum IgG-ELISA was superior to nasal secretion IgG-ELISA, DIA and IH which can also assess in the diagnosis of PM infection in camels in conjunction with serum biochemical parameters.
