    Extractions: Times-Gazette Staff Writer The political party that can combine vision and relatability will be the one to lead us into the next millennium, according to David Zanotti. The Ohio Roundtable and Ohio Freedom Forum were founded in 1980. In 1986, Zanotti was elected to serve as president of the two state-based public policy organizations. He also Serves as the national chairman of the Association of State Policy Councils, an organization of state-based public policy organizations representing more than 25 states. Zanotti. who did his graduate work at Ashland University, discussed a few trends which he believes are not being discussed much by the public but will be vital in the near future, and will influence who will win in 2000. The first trend he pointed to was term limits. According to Zanotti, by 2002, 23 states, including Ohio, will have term limits for the state legislatures. This, combined with the fact that there are no term limits on the national level, will cause problems. A third trend which Zanotti believes to be important is a group of serious problems which he sees in the near future.

Today people complain that the politicians vying for the job are hollow talking heads with no real message or way to solve national problems. After the Republican candidates debate in New Hampshire Thursday, CNN polled audience members about the messages they were hearing. Many said they heard negative messages, sparked by negative ads and arguing amongst the candidates while others were trying to talk. It was distracting for other candidates to butt in while someone else was talking, and the audience members did not approve. CNN measured individual audience reaction and showed the reactions went lower as the debaters pounced on each other or made a negative comment. The audience, made up of undecided Republican voters, said they did not make up their minds even after hearing the debate. "I wanted to hear more new ideas," several people said. Perhaps the politicians do not know what new ideas to talk about. Is someone going to propose eliminating income tax, prohibiting the use of food stamps for high-cholesteral foods or discontinuing the celebration of Thanksgiving? Politicians have to be careful with new ideas because the ideas might sound too off-the-wall.

100. Political Register
     Abstract Started in 1802, The political Register supported the Tories but he gradually became more radical. By 1815 the tax on newspapers had reached 4d. a copy and as few people could afford to pay 6d. or 7d., the tax restricted the circulation to people with fairly high incomes. Circulation was just over a thousand copies a week. The following year the political Register was published as a pamphlet selling for only 2d. and it soon had a circulation of 40,000 as the main newspaper read by the working class.
