Extractions: The Digital Agora is an ambitious interdisciplinary project that provides pedagogical supports for the understanding and analysis of complex issues in the social sciences. This project accompanied an educational paradigm shift from instructor-centered to learner-centered at Acadia University. In this paper we will describe one example of the new class of learning support tools that are needed to take advantage of the deployment of student-centered, mobile technology. The Digital Agora uses the web to integrate the student experience inside and outside the classroom, and perhaps more importantly, within the campus community and within the world community. The Digital Agora is a good example of the next wave of educational support that moves beyond providing access to more information to providing support for collaborative solutions to complex problems. Last month, the city's planning department approved the redevelopment of the Klee Building south of the 1,100-square-foot world of words. A five-story building also will go up behind the newsstand on Milwaukee Avenue, with retail on the ground floor and condominiums above. The City Newsstand will stand alone. The plans await City Council approval. "They're going to build around us," says Mike Oelrich, buyer at City News. This is like vacuuming around an old stack of Sunday papers. Popular Culture - Newsstand - State Library Of Victoria in a bid to capture the kind of ephemeral publishing that isn t often collected by libraries, staff of the State Library went shopping at a local newsstand. http://www.statelibrary.vic.gov.au/slv/resources/popularculture/newsstand.html
Extractions: In the same year, in a bid to capture the kind of ephemeral publishing that isn't often collected by libraries, staff of the State Library went shopping at a local newsstand. They bought one of every item for sale, a haul of about 90 magazines, books, comics and newspapers. In 1981 the Library went shopping again, and the number of items doubled. By 1999, it had more than doubled again. The resulting Newsstand Collection offers researchers a window onto the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s, and reveals much about how reading patterns, fashion and culture can change from decade to decade. The Newsstand Collection is part of the La Trobe Rare Books Collection and can be used in the Library's Secure Reading Room. Contact the La Trobe Information Centre desk to arrange to see it.
