This planning panel convened invited representatives of various national scientific organizations to discuss and provide advice on specific strategies to foster increased numbers of well-trained minority neuroscientists to meet our future scientific and technology needs. Top Data taken from the National Academy of Sciences Report (2000) entitled Addressing the Nations Changing Needs for Biomedical and Behavioral Scientists demonstrates that the proportion of racial/ethnic minorities receiving scientific graduate degrees and National Research Service Awards is not representative of the general population.
