The Sheriff's Office also has the state-mandated responsibility of operating the adult jail, which all three agencies use. THE JUVENILE DEPARTMENT manages the prosecution of criminal offenders under 18, juvenile parole and probation, and child abuse prosecution and treatment. The department also provides child custody mediation in new or existing divorces and administers several juvenile diversion programs, the Child Advocacy and Treatment Center, the Court Appointed Special Advocate program, and drug and alcohol programs.
