For an overview, all 77 PDA studies that could be traced by computer-aided literature search were evaluated (update of study [2]). In Table 1 and Table 2, the results of controlled studies are listed. A summary of these results is presented in Table 3. As placebo treatments are usually highly effective in panic disorder [1], only studies should be taken into account that used a drug placebo, a "psychological placebo" or a "waiting list" condition as a control group. People who experience their first panic attack often go to their local hospital emergency room because they think that they're dying from a heart attack or some other problem.

I am miserable going to work, but that is just my depression. The only reason I really go is to make some money. I may not be there that long. I am more than likely going to take a summer school class later this summer, which means I will have little time for work. On a different note, I have still been pretty depressed recently. Things are just not going well in general. I feel very empty inside. I am not really sure where to turn. My anxiety has been rising and I have been feeling more insecure than usual. I am starting to wonder if I have social anxiety disorder too.

De tudo isso resulta que o tratamento farmacológico não é uma panacéia para os pacientes com o diagnóstico de Transtorno do Pânico. Em cada caso particular o clínico deverá estimar a relação risco-benefício do tratamento farmacológico.
