The Department consists of a full-time director, full-time secretary, program coordinator, and utilities supervisor. In addition, seasonal personnel are hired to supervise recreation venues, keep score, officiate/referee, maintain grounds and concession operations. The department operates from a Recreation Levy and is subsidized from the City of Oregon general fund. Additional revenues are raised through donations, small fees and charges, and concession operations. By far, our most popular programs are our baseball and softball programs. Over 1200 pre-kindergartners to seniors in high school participate in t-ball, coach pitch baseball and softball, baseball, softball and a high school co-ed softball program. Basketball for third grade through high school boys and girls is offered as well as a summer program consisting of a roving playground meeting at three elementary schools, an art program, tennis lessons, basketball camps, track, and a summer theater program. Over 125 students participate in our full contact fifth and sixth grade football program, and over 600 players from kindergarten through eighth grade play soccer. An introduction to cheerleading is offered for fifth and sixth graders in the fall.
