Bar-O Boys Ranch School, a Del Norte County maintained facility, located on Highway 199, north of Gasquet, and south of the Oregon border, is a residential treatment program for juvenile delinquent boys who are wards of the court. Boys come from various counties throughout the state. The facility is a very positive option prior to a Youth Authority institutional commitment. The Del Norte County Office of Education provides the instructional staff to the school, which serves boys between the ages of thirteen and eighteen (grades seven through twelve). October, 2000 enrollment was thirty. We Believe... Students have the right to an education that helps them reach their maximum potential by developing a climate in which they can grow and mature, with dignity of spirit, mutual trust, and respect for others. For the 2001/2002 School Year, We Will As a Digital High School, we will increase student knowledge and use of computers to support a standards based curriculum and to promote the improvement of reading for all students. New software applications will also be used to provide individualized lessons in Mathematics, Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, and Career Education. We will also be identifying students with a need for GED study and help them to prepare for this test. Students nearing the end of their program will be enrolled in a special job training program to explore their future careers.
