Extractions: Research and Teaching Interests: I have several areas of interest all related to my work as director of the Queen's GIS Laboratory. My long term research interest has been the spread and control of wildlife rabies, funded primarily by the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources. After many years of work on the epidemiology and modeling of the disease, we are currently working on improving methods for flight line planning and aircraft navigation for the delivery of air dropped baits containing an oral vaccine for rabies. Those methods are based on GIS and GPS and have been used very successfully in Ontario, New York and Texas.

I did my undergraduate degree in geography at the University of Toronto (B.A. Honours, 1975) before going to the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) to do my M.Sc. Extractions: Linda Gollick: A Passion for Geography L INDA GOLLICK HAS BEEN A HIGH SCHOOL TEACHER FOR THE PAST 25 YEARS, 'and proud of it!' She received her B.A. Geography from the University of Windsor, and began to teach almost as soon as she was finished university. She believes that it is very important that a student receive the best geography education possible. Geography should not simply be in terms of what city is on what river, but in terms of how issues such as farming, the environment, resource use (and development) are affected by geography, and how by studying the problems others have had we might avoid those problems. She wants to raise the awareness of her students for cause and effect on a global level. Presently Linda Gollick teaches geography at Loretto College School in Toronto for grades 9 to O.A.C. She is also a member of the Ontario Association of Geographic and Environmental Educators (OAGEE), a group dedicated to making geography instructors as current as possible. She is also involved (still!) as the Ontario Co-ordinator of the Great Canadian Geography Challenge.
