Home The Media Center at Haworth Elementary School serves all of the children from grades Kindergarten through 8. The library relies heavily on volunteers to help 511 students choose and check out books weekly from a collection of nearly 20,000 books. The Media Center has been the beneficiary of many fine books bought and donated at the annual HHSA Book Fair and through the generosity of Home and School allocations. This past spring, HHSA allocated funds to purchase new holiday books as well as wordless books which will be used in a writing project by sixth grade language arts students. At the Book Fair last fall, over 100 new books were donated by Haworth parents. Many thanks for your generosity. Stop in and visit the Library/ Media Center; parents may also become patrons and borrow books from the collection. Have you been "caught reading" lately? Check out our bulletin board for likely suspects!

Extractions: About the SPC The Storm Prediction Center (SPC) is part of the National Weather Service (NWS) and the National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP). Our mission is to provide timely and accurate forecasts and watches for severe thunderstorms and tornadoes over the contiguous United States. The SPC also monitors heavy rain, heavy snow, and fire weather events across the U.S. and issues specific products for those hazards. We use the most advanced technology and scientific methods available to achieve this goal. If you are interested in the history of the SPC we have a set of pages that document much of the history of the SPC The SPC uses its suite of products to relay forecasts of organized severe weather as much as three days ahead of time, and continually refines the forecast up until the event has concluded. All products issued by the Storm Prediction Center are available on the World Wide Web. Our products are commonly used by local National Weather Service offices, emergency managers, TV and radio meteorologists, private weather forecasting companies, the aviation industry, storm spotters, agriculture, educational institutions and many other groups. A detailed description of all of the SPC products is available
SISTER LIBRARIES A WHITE HOUSE MILLENNIUM COUNCIL PROJECT HoHo-Kus school Library media Center, Ho-Ho-Kus; New Whittier Elementary school, Cincinnati. oklahoma Pioneer Library System, Norman; Tulsa City-County Library http://www.nclis.gov/millennium/list6-00.html
Extractions: A WHITE HOUSE MILLENNIUM COUNCIL PROJECT The National Commission on Libraries and Information Science and Sister Cities International have embarked on a major initiative, Sister Libraries: A White House Millennium Council Project. The initial goal is for public and school libraries in the United States to pair with others worldwide, focusing on programs specifically planned for children and teenagers. Participating libraries, such as the ones listed here, receive recognition and designation as official White House Millennium Council Sister Libraries, but the project does not provide funds for staff, equipment or materials. Many Sister Libraries are in locations that are already affiliated through Sister Cities International, an organization for sister city, county and state programs in the United States. SCI is the official agency that links communities from the United States with communities worldwide. The Sister Library programs will do much to encourage multicultural exchange and broaden international understanding enabling young people to appreciate more fully their own place in, and impact on, the world of today and tomorrow!
