Extractions: If you havent been keeping up on the latest developments in biocontrols wait a minute, what are biocontrols? Oh, shoot, you know, environmental friendly products used for controlling various crop pests which arent agricultural chemicals. If you havent, then this article may surprise you. During the past 15 years, the latest in biotechnology, along with ancient and decades-old pest control methods, now provide a respectable arsenal of weapons in, well, you know, biocontrols. What specifically are biocontrols anyway? Is it stuff you use for organic farming, like ladybugs, sulfur and maybe soap-spray? Right on folks, but much-much more. Things change fast nowadays, ya know. The biotechnology which produces many of the relatively new and growing list of biocontrols for the American farmer (and gardener) has ushered in the next era of pest-controls at least as a viable alternative anyway. Its growing so fast however, its the new terminology, not the technology, which you have to contend with first. I think we need a quick review.

WHITE WHEAT An Alternative Crop For Oklahoma An Alternative Crop for oklahoma? Production Technology Crops Sta. And coop. ext. service MF-2400, April 1999 and modified for oklahoma. http://www.agr.okstate.edu/plantsoilsci/extension/publications/wheat/pt-00-27/pt
Extractions: Oklahoma State University This publication gives an introduction of hard white wheat as a potential specialty crop for the state of Oklahoma. The goals are to increase awareness of white wheat by highlighting its strengths and weaknesses and to indicate some important production practices required for white wheat to be successful in Oklahoma. Topics What is hard white wheat? Market potential of hard white wheat Potential problems for hard white wheat Worldwide production areas of white wheat ... U.S. Wheat Growing Regions To increase profits, Oklahoma farmers are evaluating alternative crops. Producing hard white wheat in an identity preserved system is one alternative. An identity preserved system is one where the identity of a product can be maintained from planting seed to finished product. An example might be buying and planting certified Intrada seed. The wheat is harvested and kept separate from any other wheat. The wheat is delivered to a location where it is either kept isolated or co-mingled only with other Intrada, or co-mingled with other specified white wheat varieties, and finally made into flour.

Extractions: We identified 27 volunteer water quality monitoring programs sponsored or co-sponsored by Cooperative Extension in the United States and its territories. Now we are up to 38! The map on the right shows where and to what extent Cooperative Extension is involved in volunteer water quality monitoring across the nation. Not shown is an Extension co-sponsored program in American Samoa. The first of these programs began in 1978, the most recent this year. In parentheses next to each coordinator's name is the year that the program began. Program volunteers are monitoring a wide range of aquatic habitats including rivers, streams, lakes, ponds, wetlands, estuaries, and drinking water wells. We have listed the programs that are sponsored or co-sponsored by Cooperative Extension by state in the directory that follows. We have tried our best to keep the contact information current. Many programs have websites; we have created links to these sites for your convenience. We encourage you to explore the wide range of Extension volunteer monitoring programs and contact those that interest you. All our coordinators are more than happy to share their expertise and enthusiasm with you!
