Project Health Quest introduces youth from underrepresented groups to the various career opportunities in the health professions by providing them with information on the preparation and job tasks of many health professions. Mentors from the university and medical school talk to students and encourage their progress in the sciences and mathematics as a pathway to health careers. Extractions: angell.20@osu.edu 2003 County Highlights OSU Extension partnered with the Huron County General Health District to coordinate Heart Health of Huron County a program aimed to reduce risk factors for the number one cause of death in Huron County, heart disease. Through this Ohio Department of Health funded project, a monthly Heart Health column appeared in the Norwalk Reflector and four issues of the From The Heart newsletter were distributed to over people. Forty-nine county employees participated in the Healthy Ohioans walking challenge. Five restaurants were awarded the GOLD Plate award for offering heart healthy options. Educational displays were developed and used at over ten health fairs. The 20 hour ServSafe training was attended by 28 food service managers from a variety of food service establishments. Developed by the National Restaurant Association, this in-depth food safety and sanitation course has become the industry standard in food safety training and is accepted for food safety certification by the Ohio Department of Health.

Ohio State University Extension's Family Nutrition Program (FNP) is funded by a grant throughout the Midwest Region Food and Consumer Service, United States Department of Agriculture. The Family Nutrition Program is sometimes referred to as the Food Stamp Nutrition Education Program. FNP is a joint partnership between the Ohio Department of Human Services and Ohio State University Extension in an effort to improve the level of nutrition education of families and individuals who are food stamp recipients or eligible nonparticipants in non-EFNEP counties and food stamp recipients or eligible nonparticipants who are elderly and/or adults without young children in EFNEP counties. Currently, Ohio has six waivers and sorting through the differences of these waivers can be confusing. The following information is provided as a way to help families understand the differences among waivers, but families should contact the agency that administers the waiver to verify the information provided and for more specific information about eligibility and services. Currently, Ohio has six waivers that are administered by either the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, the Ohio Department of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities, or the Ohio Department of Aging.
