Extractions: I chose http://www.ancientegypt.co.uk/menu.html as a website that is rich with learning content. The website is titled The British Museum with subcategories pertaining to early civilizations and Egyptians. The resource I chose is a website pertaining to early civilizations and in particular Egyptians. The source is sponsored by The British Museum. The kinds of learning found in this site that may be presented by an educator reflect teaching models addressed in class. A few examples of these models that may be presented are lecture/direct instruction, discussion, discovery learning, and creation of projects. Students will learn applications pertaining to history, language arts, and spelling. I would implement this website into k-12 teaching by providing students with a unit on Early Civilizations. Early Civilizations is a unit exhibited in the state recommended curriculum for 6 th grade. Students would have a spelling list for the week pertaining to the website. There are words on the site that are underlined and defined in a glossary. Students could find these words and the definition of the word for homework one night. Lesson Plan Purpose : This lesson plan will introduce students to a unit on Early Civilizations and familiarize students with a resource on the Internet.

Next to this link is one to "Bulletins" here you'll find dozens of bulletins especially on new archaeological discoveries, but also on such events as airport improvements, bus service, Arabian Horse Festivals, operas at the Sphinx or in Luxor, sports, and the opening of 11 new National Parks (including several in the Sinai and one at the ancient oracular site at Siwa in the western desert until I saw this, I hadn't realized Egypt even had National Parks).

Prof. Mines' area of study is South India and the exotic and beautiful pictures he shows are very captivating. This class gives a general overview of the many cultures of the world. I learned a lot from this class. Every lecture was interesting. The honors section with the professor is very interesting and helpful for the course. This honors section allows for a lot of self expression and intelligent dialogue. I highly recommend this class on basis of the professor and the study material itself. Posted by Neena Chauhan Anthropology 2 - Introductory Cultural Anthropology (Fall 2000) Dr. Mines is a very interesting and entertaining teacher for this introductory anthropology class. He will definitely show you what a survey course is about, covering the whole realm of Anthropology and all the parts that go into it. He is full of stories which are always fun to listen to but pay attention because they will appear on the tests also. If you don't want to see a giraffe getting killed then you can skip a lecture. We saw three or four movies in Anth 2 which were interesting. Reading Nisa (required text) is perverted and fun but the other required reading was tough (I didn't quite make it through) You can still do well in this class without all of the reading but a good grade requires that you know all the material well and go to every lecture because there are things that you just can't get out of a friends notes.
Extractions: TV Watching Leads to Attention Deficit Disorder in Children, Study Finds By Omarr Lee, Special to BET.com Posted April 6, 2004 Children who watch a lot of TV at an early age are at great risk of attention deficit disorder, a new study shows. Advertisement writeIFad('abAd', '200', '200', '3', 'news;sub=;pid=;dest=article_body') Children between the ages of 1 and 3 who watch TV daily have a 10 percent greater chance of getting attention deficit disorder, researchers found. Jennifer Kotler, assistant director of research at Seame Workshop, told The Washington Post that the negative impact of TV can be reduced if parents make sure their children watch more educational programming than anything else. They can also do a better job of turning the TV off, Kotler says.
