With these 2001-2002 National Board Certified Teachers (NBCTs), Orange County now has a total of 62 teachers with National Board Certification. That means that 12.7% of teachers in Orange County Schools are NBPTS certified, compared with 6% of teachers across the state. The NBPTS certification process measures a teachers practice against rigorous standards based on Five Core Propositions that define excellent teaching. It involves an extensive series of performance-based assessments, including teaching Portfolios, student work samples, videotapes, and thorough analyses of the candidates classroom teaching and student learning.
