Twenty-nine percent of New Yorkers ages 18-64, or more than one million men and women, lack health care coverage, a rate 50 percent higher than that of the nation as a whole. Changes in the city's health care environment are also being analyzed in a multiyear project led by the United Hospital Fund (UHF).
