Family Type Home operators have been trained in caregiver skills and Adult Protective Service workers in casework interventions. Under contract with the New York State Office for the Aging (SOFA) a Train-the-Training Coordinator program provided for the dissemination of SOFA curriculum "Practical Help for Those Caring for an Elderly Person in the Community." The Institute develops models of support groups which relate to various development crisis ie. the retiree, aging parents of the adult developmentally disabled, etc. The Institute has had a major role in designing and developing cross-cutting programs of linkage with other networks such as health agencies, child guidance and child welfare programs.
