Family Outreach Project: the Family Outreach Project is a collaborative effort among child care/early childhood education centers under contract in the "Abbott" school districts, local community-based organizations, and PCA-NJ. The goals of this project are to increase parents' knowledge of child development; to increase family involvement in their child's education both at home and at the child care/early childhood center; and to help families access local resources that result in healthy outcomes for children. PCA-NJ provides oversight of the state-wide project, coordinates trainings and is responsible for training all Family Workers in the Parents as Teachers program, and facilitates communication among collaborators. PCA-NJ works with 15 community-based organizations serving 31 Abbott districts, and supervises 15 MSWs and 600 family workers. The Family Outreach Project reaches some 19,000 families.
