The variation in climate, population and vegetation is as great as the variation in altitude. The mountain kingdom of Nepal is double the size of Tasmania, about the size of the UK and slightly smaller than the State of Georgia in the United States. It is bounded by Tibet to the North and India to the East, West and South. It has 8 out of 10 of the world's highest mountains; a land of such giant sentinels as Mount Everest, lhotse, Nuptse, Cho Oyu, Makalu, Dhaulagiri, Annapurna and many more.
