Duplex/multiplex surface treatment methods are now combined with multilayer coating architectures to meet the ever increasing application requirements of critical engine parts and components. Our aim is to establish excellent computer aided engineering (CAE) system for flexible and effective designing of production processes. Our research areas are nonlinear computational mechanics, mechanics of materials and neural network systems, which are state of the art technologies to construct the CAE system. 1.Computer aided virtual manufacturing system. The objectives of this subject are to develop computer programs based on the finite element method to analyze the complex forming process of elastic-plastic materials and to establish mathematical models to predict forming limit, geometries and qualities of worked materials. 2.Elasto-plastic constitutive models.

     Extractions: Wei-Hsuin Yang I n a broad sense, the research performed by members of the Materials and Solid Mechanics group focuses on how to process materials and how to improve or predict the life of materials used in engineering components. Research topics span many technical fields, ranging from automotive, aerospace, and biomedical engineering to mechanical design and engineering ethics. Although the group as a whole is involved in a rich spectrum of research topics, the research of individuals within the group is typically related by a common thread. For example, group members are involved in research that focuses on characterizing and modeling the response of polymeric systems. This work has many applications in the automotive industry. In addition to providing the models required to improve automotive comfort and durability, the research is of critical importance in the design of automobiles for crash worthiness. Several group members collaborate on various problems related to the friction and wear of materials used in automotive and aircraft braking systems. The ultimate goal of this work is to improve the reliability of friction materials. A majority of the group members are involved in projects related to the fatigue and fracture of engineering materials. The group has developed very unique experimental facilities for fatigue research, including one-of-a-kind multi-axis load frames and high frequency test machines.
