Students are required to take between one and three mathematics courses, depending upon their degree program and year of graduation. Students entering the pharmacy degree programs are required to take MAT 151-152 (Foundations of Calculus I and II) and MAT 261 (Statistics). Some students may be required to take MAT 141 (Algebra and Trigonometry) prior to beginning Calculus. Advanced students may be placed in MAT 250-251 (Calculus I and II). For placement in an appropriate course, students must take the Mathematics Diagnostic Examination upon arrival at the College. Placement is determined by the coordinator of mathematics in the School of Arts and Sciences. All incoming freshmen and all transfer students who have not received credit for Expository Writing I and II from a college in the continental United States must take the English Diagnostic Examination.
