Marine Biology is a multidisciplinary field of study which links Biology and the predominantly physico-chemical discipline of Oceanography. Marine organisms and processes have been studied at Queen's for over 100 years and the father of modern biological oceanography, Charles Wyville Thompson, held the chair in Natural History and Geology at Queen's between 1860 and 1870.
