It enrolls 34,000 students at the graduate and undergraduate levels, with 6 percent of the students coming from outside the United States. LSU has excellent sports and performing arts facilities; a well-equipped student union is the center of student activities. Some 20 percent of students live on campus. Locale: LSU is located on the southern edge of the city of Baton Rouge, bordering on the Mississippi River. The state capital, Baton Rouge, is a commercial and industrial center. New Orleans, with its distinctive cultural and architectural heritage, is about 90 miles to the southeast.
