Extractions: Introduction The European Cultural Foundation has awarded Visiting Arts a grant towards the project entitled: - a 10,000 word report and related website targeted at arts managers, promoters and programmers in Europe and the Middle East. The report will be designed to provide case-studies on UK and European cultural exchange work with the two countries, highlight the official and unofficial networks and collaborations currently underway, and attempt to stimulate new two-way dialogues between Europe and the Mediterranean states. The publication will be accompanied by a website listing key contacts to encourage greater access. Visiting Arts will also be collaborating with the Zenith Foundation on the project. Zenith is an art foundation that brings Arab culture into public view and understanding. Preliminary Research Preliminary research has now begun on the project where the aim is to provide live market intelligence to practitioners and audiences in order to encourage the presentation of more arts from the region and further stimulate networking activities. The project is partly funded by the European Cultural Foundation. Lisa will be assisted by Mai Abu El Dahab who is based in Cairo.
