Latin was the language Language is a system of gestures, grammar, signs, sounds, symbols, and words which are used to represent and communicate concepts, ideas, meanings, and thoughts; language is a "semantic code". The study of language is linguistics, an academic discipline founded by Ferdinand de Saussure. Those who speak a language are part of that language's linguistic community. Making a principled distinction between one human language and another is often not possible. One major issue is the dialect continuum phenomena, where the boundaries between named language groups are necessarily arbitrary. For instance, there are dialects of German very similar to Dutch which are not mutually intelligible with other dialects of (what we call) German.

Internet Workbook For The Oxford Latin Course An interactive workbook of exercises, drills, and review for learning latin. Emphasizes reading and conversation as a way to learn the language but still covers grammar. http://artemis.austincollege.edu/acad/cml/rcape/latin/
Extractions: This workbook is designed to help students practice and review material associated with the Oxford Latin Course (OLC). The OLC emphasizes reading and oral question and answer as the primary ways of learning Latin, but it makes some use of formal grammar. While the thrust of this approach differs from the older grammar-based methods, students still need practice with declension and conjugation paradigms and rules of syntax. This workbook provides an easy way for students to practice the Latin forms and receive immediate feedback on their answers. The workbook may be used outside of class for extra practice, by homeschoolers using the OLC, or it may be used as part of a class in a computer lab environment. For those using other texts, or reviewing Latin grammar, use the Grammar Index information about the javascripts used here and credits . I would like to thank the Charles E. Culpeper Foundation and the Telecommunications Infrastructure Fund Board (Texas) for supporting this project. INDEX OF MATERIALS Oxford Latin Course , Book I Chapter 1:

Extractions: Language Schools Argentina Bolivia Chile Costa Rica ... Are you looking for a language school? A stay at a language school can be an experience for a lifetime. But how do you find the right one for you? There are several schools out there, and just like people are different so are the schools. The same school doesn't necessarily appeal equally to everyone. What does this equate to? Well, a woman in her early 20s might easily be looking for something different than people in their 50s, for example. And while someone likes climbing the Andes while exploring the Inca culture, others like to immerse themselves into the cosmopolitan culture of a world city like Barcelona. Others again prefer the blue water and golden beaches of southern Spain or Central America.
